happy summer, folks
isn’t it lovely to feel warm
shedding winter duds
throwing open windows
lounging by the pool
even if it’s just a kiddie pool
i love summer
we are officially finished with school
portfolios
evaluations
paperwork
but, of course,
that means it’s time to plan for next year
and college visits
and all things seniory
sniff
not quite ready for all of that
so let’s focus on something shallow and frivolous
m-kay?
like my dining room
i decided that it was time to change out
my light fixture
when we bought the house
there was a hole in the ceiling where a light should be
after scouring Ebay for weeks
i found a reproduction crystal chandy
that was perfect
but after nine years
i was ready for a change
it retails for $30
but someone locally was selling a brand new one
for $10
i bought it
painted it black
it’s perfect
large
quasi-industrial
a little boho
and works perfectly in the room
in the corner there
you can spot our new autograph door
which we keep forgetting to have people sign
we’ve also done a little summerfying outside the house
i hung lights and a mirror ball on the gazebo
along with a simple pennant banner i made out of twine and dropcloth fabric
still working to add a little boho feel to the living room
and some day
we’ll get Fiona’s new room cleaned, propped
and photographed for you
until then
happy summer
