Easy Valentine's Day Hand Pies

yesterday

was not my best day

i woke up with a drippy nose

and scratchy throat

broke my glasses

and the van apparently

doesn't like going anywhere

when it's zero degrees out

so Chad filled up his car

with as many kids as possible

and i stayed home with the younger two

and even though

i wasn't feeling so hot

i needed to make something for lunch

plus

colds make me hungry

so whilst spaghetti sauce bubbled away

in my crock pot

i decided to use some ready made pie crusts

and a can of cherry pie filling

to make an easy sweet treat for the family

using two refrigerated rounds of pie dough

i cut 16 circles

then made cut-outs in half of the rounds

with my small heart shaped cutter

after adding a dollop of canned cherry pie filling on the uncut rounds

i topped with the cutout rounds

pressed the edges together with a fork

brushed the crusts with egg white

sprinkled with sugar

and baked in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes

yum

 when my family

trooped home from church

cold and snow-dusted

these little love-filled guys

brought smiles all around

what sweet treats

are you making for Valentine's Day this year?
