Galvanized

a few weeks ago

posted about decking her christmas tree

i loved sasha's idea for a cheap and lovely

(two words that don't always go together)

christmas tree stand

she used a galvanized washtub

bought at lowe's for

$14

now

this idea appealed to me for two reasons

one

my old christmas tree skirt had to be binned

because it was just

old

tattered

icky

two

the whole washtub thing is

well

cheap and lovely

so

of course

i had to dash on over to my local lowe's

and grab a washtub

to make my own

nifty christmas tree stand

only

our tree was already up

fully decorated

and hubs informed me

gently

that it would be just too difficult to lift the tree and replace in a different stand at this point honey

sigh

so i thought to myself

what am i gonna do with this washtub?

then

it came to me

that tub

(spraypainted, of course)

would make the perfect firewood holder thingy

so

I whipped out my trusty can of spraypaint

(rustoleum's oil rubbed bronze)

and in a blink

or two

went from

to

after a little of this

and now it looks like this

it works

but next year

the tree's going in it
