september is always a little
bittersweet
since it's the time when my garden produces
her final blooms of summer
i'm enjoying them while the warm weather lasts
before i tuck my plants in for their long winter sleep

one of my favorite annuals

wave petunias
ribbon grasse
needing thinned out
basil
which we use
all summer long
(and a few weeds...sigh)
my very favorite shrub
pee gee hydrangea
which i planted last summer
with its very first bloom
i'm enjoying them all for the final few weeks
before autumn's first frost
