The sun is shining today and the air feels practically balmy at 57 degrees. A change is in the air. Already I've discovered new little green things popping up through the soil and it thrills my heart to the core.
Here is the teeny tiny beginnings of a hyacinth. It's pushing last year's dead leaf out of the way.
And I cannot wait until my peonies pop. They're my favorite flower of all time. Oh, the anticipation! And the lilacs, hardy geranium (that I've moved from home to home 3 times) and lavender. I can practically smell it now. For me there is a huge sense of satisfaction when I see the things I have planted take root and blossom.
The time is coming when everything will be made new and winter will be nothing more than a chilly memory.
I truly believe that when Spring arrives the veil of heaven flutters open for just a moment. And we catch a glimpse of the Creator. When I look at all the new beginnings in my insignificant plot of earth I am daily reminded that the One who set the stars in their courses also created me in His very image. That He Who laid the very foundations of the earth and enclosed the sea with doors also knit me together in my mother's womb. That the One Who made a cloud its garment and commanded the morning also loves and cares for me every day.
And I am thankful that He sees fit to share the care and keeping of His earth with me.
And I am ready for Spring to come again.

And this is a clump of Autumn Joy Sedum that's already coming up. A bouquet of tiny green roses in a sea of bracken.
Last year I planted a pink climbing rose next to my arbor. I'm hoping it will look something like this.
Actually, I'm just hoping I didn't kill it...I haven't had much luck with roses so far.
And then there's the Blue Nikko Hydrangea that I planted in last year. Right now it's a little forlorn.
Looks mostly dead to me (is there such a thing as 'mostly dead'?) but I think there's a life in there. If I'm lucky, the poor little thing will look a bit more like this in a few short months.
A girl can hope.
